The deserved winner of the 2019 Spiel des Jahres, Just One is a cooperative party game where players must help each other guess mystery words using one-word clues. Identical clues are discarded, making it important that you are always being unique while searching for the best clue to help your teammates. With a complete game being played across 13 cards, the goal is to work together to score as close to 13 as possible, which each wrong answer costing 2 points.

A competitive card game where players try to dump cards from their hands as quickly as possible, Llama was recognised as one of the Spiel des Jahres nominees 2019. Each round begins with players having six cards, consisting of llama cards and numbered cards ranging from 1-6. Players compete to be the first to play their entire hand, though they are only able to play cards that match the current card or are one number higher. If you still have cards in your hand once the round ends, you are given points. The player with the fewest points at the end of the game wins.

Werewords

The other of the Spiel des Jahres nominees 2019 provided, Werewords labels itself as 20 questions with a twist. As players try to guess a secret word by asking “yes” or “no” questions, they must also identify who among them is the werewolf. This werewolf not only knows what the secret word is, but they are also trying to impede your efforts. Victory comes from either correctly guessing the word or by outing the werewolf.
