Innovation Figures in the Sand is an expansion for Carl Chudyk’s Innovation, released in 2013, add 105 of the most innovative people in history to your Innovation game. Karma effects, Inspires, and new ways to win await!
With Innovation Cities of Destiny, the third expansion for the card game Innovation, players can now add cities to their civilisation-building efforts. Unlike previous base game and expansion cards, which each featured three icons and a text ability, cards in Cities feature six icons that can provide you with extra actions, icons, and achievements.
Innovation Artifacts of History is the fourth expansion to Innovation. Artifacts of History features unique artifacts from the ages, such as the Declaration of Independence. These cards feature very powerful dogma effects, but are difficult to wield.
Artifacts of History is simpler than the other expansions released to date, Unlike the other expansions, there are no major new mechanics on the cards. Instead, the new artifact cards are difficult to acquire but have very powerful effects. The artifacts are especially good for players who are behind.
There are a few minor new mechanics. One is the compel effect. This effect is similar to the demand effect of the base game, except that it affects players who have more icons of a given type rather than fewer.
Innovation Echoes of the Past is an expansion for Carl Chudyk’s Innovation, released in 2010, that mirrors the construction of the earlier game as both include 110 cards, 105 cards that are divided into different decks (labeled age 1 to age 10) and five cards that show special achievements that can be claimed. The expansion’s 110 cards are all new.
In loose terms, Innovation is a Civilisation-style game in which players first have access to low-powered cards in age 1, then build up to more powerful cards in later ages, stacking new acquisitions on old to build the strength of their holdings. Players meld cards, score points and take special actions (called ‘dogma actions’) unique to their cards in play in order to claim achievements. The first player to claim 4-6 achievements, depending on the number of players, wins the game.
Innovation Echoes of the Past changes game play from the base game in a number of ways. First, there are now two draw decks to get cards from in each age — players draw Echoes cards or Base cards depending on the contents of their hand. Second, the maximum player count is increased to five.
Third, and most interestingly, Innovation: Echoes of the Past introduces new game mechanisms. With foreshadow, a player can stash a card under his player board, then bring it into play (and use it) on a later turn when he melds a card that’s from the same age or a higher one. With echo, when a player takes the dogma action of a card in play, he can receive additional actions showing on that card and any other cards visible in the same stack.

Within the charming valley of Everdell, beneath the boughs of towering trees, among meandering streams and mossy hollows, a civilisation of forest critters is thriving and expanding. From Everfrost to Bellsong, many a year have come and gone, but the time has come for new territories to be settled and new cities established. You will be the leader of a group of critters intent on just such a task. There are buildings to construct, lively characters to meet, events to host—you have a busy year ahead of yourself. Will the sun shine brightest on your city before the winter moon rises?
The Everdell Board Game is a game of dynamic tableau building and worker placement.
On their turn a player can take one of three actions:
a) Place a Worker: Each player has a collection of Worker pieces. These are placed on the board locations, events, and on Destination cards. Workers perform various actions to further the development of a player’s tableau: gathering resources, drawing cards, and taking other special actions.
b) Play a Card: Each player is building and populating a city; a tableau of up to 15 Construction and Critter cards. There are five types of cards: Travelers, Production, Destination, Governance, and Prosperity. Cards generate resources (twigs, resin, pebbles, and berries), grant abilities, and ultimately score points. The interactions of the cards reveal numerous strategies and a near infinite variety of working cities.
c) Prepare for the next Season: Workers are returned to the players supply and new workers are added. The game is played from Winter through to the onset of the following winter, at which point the player with the city with the most points wins.
After a successful bank heist, you and your fellow thieves are laying low and enjoying the good life. Most of the cash has been hidden away, and the rest has been invested in businesses throughout the city. Everything is going according to plan until the police get a breakthrough in their investigation. Accusations are made, fingers are pointed, and after a heated argument, you decide to go your separate ways.
Chaos ensues as the SWAT team is called in and start to close off the city’s exits. Your only choice now is to escape the city before it is completely locked down. But you need a plan — a good route that allows you to leave the city while recovering as much of the money as possible.
You will need to call in some favours and hire the local gangs to create diversions. Bribing the Police would be a good idea too, but it isn’t cheap. Disguises may help, but they don’t fool everyone. Setting the Police on the trail of your former colleagues will give you a better chance of escape, but the other thieves are thinking the same thing…
Will you escape the city with the most money, or will the Police lock down the city before you can escape?
In the Escape Plan Board Game, players are the thieves, but they may influence the cops’ moves every turn. The robbers move on a modular board trying to reach the best spots to recover their loot and escape from the city with more money than the other thieves. The cops are trying to thwart their escape plan — by force if necessary. The players play cards to aid their escape and slow the other players down. The players take actions that allow them to move and to engage gangs, mules, and snitches.
As a tactical game with no direct conflict, it contains asymmetric roles set by missions that players may achieve during the game while avoiding the police. The players’ roles as thieves are individual with every player for themselves. In the end, only the player who escapes with the most cash wins.
The game design is influenced by great heist films.
