Historically grounded, Sensō is a light wargame featuring area-control mechanics and a light, trick-taking card mechanic.

The Senso Board Game, is a 2 to 5 player light trick taking / area control war game set within the early stages of the Sengoku period. The Year is 1570, Oda has grown to be one of the strongest clans in the civil war period, taking control of central Japan. Drawing the attention of neighbouring clans Takeda, Uesugi and Mori
Sensō contains a standard deck of 54 playing cards designed by Raben White and inspired by Japanese wood carvings of the daimyos and heroes of the Sengoku period. 32 coloured wooden cubes, matching the 4 playable clans. Clan cards for each player with their clan symbol and the 5th player as the Emperor. 4 illustrated cards creating the Map of Japan showing the provinces and territories to control and score Victory Points.
Players control 1 of the 4 main clans, Oda, Takeda, Uesugi and Mori and for a 5 player game, controlling the Emperor of Japan. Each round players are dealt cards with each Clan earning favour and becoming Trump Suit. At the end of each round the tricks / hands won by each player are counted and used to move, add their own clan cubes and/or remove others to gain dominance in the 10 territories of central Japan. After 8 rounds victory points are awarded based on who has control over each area of the map. They are totalled with the player with the highest score declared the winner.

A standard 54 deck of playing cards, featuring beautiful art from Raben White.
32 Coloured Cubes.
18 cards including a map of Japan, rules and Clan Cards.

Preordered a large kickstarter that ran into recurring delays. Aside that aspect (waited almost a year extra) which is out of their control, I’m very satisfied with my order, now that it’s received. Delivery was swift and painless once it got dispatched. Maybe I’ll steer away from preorders for a while, and order only what’s available upfront.

I'm kicking myself for ever buying any games from Amazon. MUCH happier to buy from this newly discovered local shop, run by friendly employees. (As well as friendly fellow customers with great advice!) Some of their prices were cheaper than I've seen on Amazon!I could spend ages in this shop. Does the same thing to me that a bookstore does.Would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially those trying to have less screen time and more connecting time. And I will most definitely go there again.... I've already got a list of the next games to buy!

I had an excellent experience ordering from More Than Meeples online.Being a physical store, rather than a service that replies on multiple suppliers of varying reliability, their ability to accurately report on stock is an increasingly rare delight. It might sound like a strange thing to praise, but having had a few recent experiences ordering online from other stores, and then being told weeks later that the stock had never been there and being issues a refund, this was a very nice change.The staff were also wonderful to deal with. Great range for all kinds of gamers at good prices.
